What date is 21 days from today?

The date below is 21 days forward from whatever today is on your device, worked out when the page loaded. Nothing to type in, nothing sent anywhere.

Working it out from your device’s clock…

Today
Day of the week
Written as YYYY-MM-DD
Weekdays vs weekend days

The date above is calculated on your own device when the page opens, from your device’s clock and time zone. Nothing is uploaded and no date is stored on this page.

How the count is defined

Your browser reads today’s date from your device and adds 21 days, which gives the date above. The same date engine drives the date calculator, so the two pages cannot disagree with each other.

Every calendar day counts, weekends and public holidays included. Today is treated as day zero, so the result is the 21th day after today rather than counting today itself as the first day. If your contract counts the starting day as day one, shift the result by a day.

Because the answer depends on today, it is not written into the page. It is recalculated every time the page opens, in your own time zone, and never leaves the device.

Three weeks, weekday intact

Twenty-one days is three exact weeks, so it is the longest of the common intervals that still returns the same weekday as today. Anything built around a weekly rhythm — a three-week course, a three-cycle schedule, a rotating shift pattern — can be counted in twenty-ones without the day drifting. It also crosses exactly three weekends, whatever day you start on.

Where a 21-day window is written into a rule

Twenty-one days is the review period an employer must give an individual employee to consider a severance agreement that waives age-discrimination claims under the US Older Workers Benefit Protection Act; a group layoff gets forty-five days instead. Twenty-one days is also a common length for a court response deadline and for the notice period on some meetings and hearings. The count is calendar days, so a twenty-one-day window never gains time because of a bank holiday.

Weekends, holidays and working days

Nothing is skipped here: weekends and public holidays sit inside the count, which is what a plain day count means in almost every contract, notice and policy.

The result box still shows how the span divides — how many of the days are Mondays to Fridays and how many are weekend days — because that is usually the real question behind “will this be dealt with in time”. Public holidays are not deducted from that weekday figure.

Common questions

Is 21 days exactly three weeks? Yes. Three weeks is twenty-one days, and the result falls on the same weekday as today.

Why is 21 days a common legal review period? It gives a full three weekends to seek advice while still being countable in whole weeks. US severance agreements waiving age claims use a 21-day individual review period and 45 days for group layoffs.

Is 21 days the same as three weeks of work? No. Twenty-one calendar days contain fifteen weekdays, so it is three working weeks only if you ignore public holidays.

The rest of the family

If this was not quite the interval you needed, one of these will be.
